1. Myth: "You can target fat loss in specific areas."

One of the most common things I hear is, “I want to lose fat in my arms, but my legs are fine,” or “I just want shredded arms, but my face is good as it is.” The truth is, spot reduction doesn’t work. No, wearing tight belts around your waist while running won’t magically shrink your belly. Fat loss happens throughout your whole body, not just in one area.

It’s all about genetics—where your body tends to store fat. Some people store more fat in their abdomen, others in their legs, and so on. The ironic part? The areas people often complain about are usually the places where their body holds onto fat the longest. So, don’t fall for those ads promising miracle belts or jackets that claim to target specific fat areas. Real fat loss is about overall progress, not trying to "spot reduce."
The truth: Spot reduction is a myth. You can’t choose where you lose fat. Your body decides where it burns fat from, and it’s different for everyone. Focus on overall fat loss, and eventually, those stubborn areas will shrink.

2. Myth: "You need to eat super low-carb or follow a strict diet to lose weight."
The truth: You don’t need to cut out entire food groups to lose fat. Fat loss happens when you’re in a caloric deficit, no matter what foods you eat. Healthy, balanced meals with plenty of whole foods are key, but moderation and portion control are what really count. I myself tried low-carb meals that made my workouts feel terrible and reduced my energy levels during the day.

3. Myth: "You have to exercise for hours every day to lose weight."
The truth: While exercise helps, you don’t need to work out for hours. Even moderate, consistent activity paired with a sensible diet can get you great results. Consistency is more important than extreme intensity. If you exercised for hours that could drain you of energy for the rest of the day and gradually you will feel tired of the gym and want to escape it.
